Zainah Anwar - To end discrimination against women

Zainah Anwar, Executive Director of Sisters in Islam (SIS), works on the rights of Muslim women within the framework of Islam to end discrimination against women in the name of religion while upholding the principles of justice, equality, freedom and dignity within a democratic state.

In this short interview (four minutes), she tells Global X the story of a woman who spent over seven years out of an eight-year marriage to try to get a divorce from her violent husband, even though he had already remarried and had children with his new wife.

Zainah Anwar, an optimist, hopes that her current work will become irrelevant in the next 10 years. She knows that the laws that Malaysia has inherited from the British need to be adapted to the new realties that women are now facing. She is convinced that "justice will prevail, because the realities of our lives are totally different from when these laws were first conceptualized."

I know she wants to be like salvation for women rights and she use word Islam as a base of her plan. I'm agree when she talked about women rights and the divorce at her first minute of this video but the way she think about Islam was based on western global rights but not based on Quran and Sunnah. She way to far when she get influenced by western thinking which is not same with Muslim's faith and virtue. She's a Muslim but she's not a right muslim. May Allah guide her to the right path. Ameen.

But how are people to take you seriously, even when you do not wear the hijab? Whilst I respect your intentions, we hace to respect the sanctity of THE laws that have to be abided by, for both the men and women in all countries, withing cultures and society, JUST, as we have to here.
