This, apart from the flickering from the capture tool, is a bunch of random things running on my netbook. Compiz fusion for the wall-effects, cube rotation (or flip, there are two desktops), transparent menus. It's a gnome desktop environment with a maximus window-manager and the window-picker applet.

  • @TdotStudio No, GNU linux and MacOS are both based on Unix. It's the same kernel model, with the modules loaded on top, with the layers for graphical user interface above that.

MacOS is more an application branch than an OS, though. Like Windows, MacOS is a package that with non-interchangable parts.

Linux is developed in the way that it's supposed to be possible to change all the parts as you'd like. In the video Compiz Fusion runs on top of the window manager, replacing other functions.
