United Nations, New York, December 2009 - A local non-governmental organization, Village Planete, is partnering with USAID to replant almost four kilometres of Haiti's north coast with more than 10,000 mangroves. Over the last 50 years, the mangrove forests were depleted as villagers cut them down to use for fuel wood; as the mangroves disappeared, so too did the fish, crabs and birds
I love the work of Village Planete, because it is a practical and a visionary approach to the long-term economic and ecologic vitality of Haiti.
Please publish information on how we can make donations to Village Planete.
