This video shows you how to delete a photo using iPhoto '09 and to do it in a way where the photo is removed from your hard drive completely. Many people delete photos in iPhoto '09 thinking that the photo is erased from their computer. However, depending on how the photo was deleted, that photo still exists and takes up space on their hard drive. For some this may be a good thing. But often, iPhoto users think that when the delete key is used photo is removed from their computer - yet the "deleted photo" can still be found on your computer using Finder. This video shows you how to remove the photo completely.

  • Thanks man I had put a video on my moms computer I wanted to delete later and I thought I could just put it in the trash but no. Thanks O___________o

  • Thanks for taking the time to make (and later edit) this video. So basically, deleting photos from the iPhoto (and HDD) is two step process: 1) delete the event, photo, etc. and empty the iPhoto trash 2) empty the trash on the Doc. You saved me tons of hard-disk space!

  • DUDE I was down to like 8 GB and I was like wtf why is that doing that I hit the delete you so saved me buying an external hardrive

  • Ignore my last comment. I deleted my original photos after importing, with the 'copy items' box checked. Do that to avoid duplicates, so this works. But also backup using Time Machine.

  • tom scholz from the rock band boston?

  • Hey, people! The issue I was having was that it was only deleting the image in the iPhoto folder. You may notice that when you view the image name in Finder there may be the original image and also a duplicate. Go into advanced iPhoto preferences, then uncheck 'copy items into iPhoto library'. The bad news is you'll have to reimport all your photos, then it works!!!

  • ok heres how to delete a photo or photo album:

    click on a photo.

when the photo is outlined with yellow,

drag it into the "trash" folder

go on "iphoto" on top, next to the apple emblem.

the 3rd option is "empty Iphoto trash"

    there :)

  • when I open the i Photo library from pictures file its open as i photo window not like a file ?? so what should I do ?

  • DOESNT'T WORK!
