"Do not correct me right now... (I mean it.) I do not want to have to CHOOSE MY WORDS" for the sake of others... She looks so psycho in her efforts to maintain her sense of white privilege. However, it would be of some use if the black family would make an effort to be less ethnocentric and come to terms with the fact that words do vary from people to people... and that sometimes intention is more important than language used. Even if she was rude - they're attacking her for the wrong reason.

@MrUnorthobox I completely agree. As a white woman, there is a lot of admiration I have for blacks, but it would be uncharacteristic to express it openly. (As Carmen did, even though she was pretty weird about it) A buried admiration would be the best way to refer to it as.

While the mother made some completely cringe worthy comments, I do feel bad for her and I can understand where she was coming from. She feels if she is constantly walking on eggshells and can't express how she truly feels about blacks (usually in ways that are not negative), without them getting up in arms about it, particularly Renee. I'm sorry, but for a white person, that is just not a comfortable way to live, by tiptoeing around things because of political correctness.

Carmen needs to think before she speaks. No one was overreacting, the entire group left after she made her stupid comments about the gay dude and the 'black creature' shit. It's not acceptable and she needs to learn that. Typical white privilege, they think they can do no wrong.
