Mary M. was maligned because she and Jesus were equal partners, in harmony as soul mates. This was a threatening concept to the Roman Empire because it's such an empowering relationship for people that it would threaten the authority of the empire. Divisiveness in marriage kept people weak and easily controlled by Rome.

I've concluded that programs like these aren't interested in being objective as much as they're interested in being controversial. The Scriptures label Judas Iscariot a thief (John 12:6) and these Gnostic Gospels aren't reliable sources since the earliest date for them is around the 2nd-4th century...much later than the synoptic Gospels of the 1st century. I wonder why these same critics never apply their controversy methods to any other faith...Islam, Hinduism, Atheism, etc.?
