Heard this for the first time when he played the Ryman in Nashville a couple years ago. I was like, what album is this on? And had to run out and buy a New Day At Midnight. I don't think the album itself is as strong as some of his others, but worth it just for this song. Seems he's slowed it down a bit here, though.

It's because American radio stations are owned by the same companies that own the record studios, produce the music and do the marketing. They scout the talent, engineer a talentless performer where necessary (i.e. Brittney Spears), then they play the same music they produced on their own radio stations until people learn to like it and buy the albums. Same reason why MP3s are such a threat - takes away control from a select few people. Dave is independent, which is why he's not on your radio.
