outstanding!

a bit late on but have you seen the way Martin Simpson's hands dance around when he's playing clawhammer? seems a very unusual style!

Wow ... the internal reso has a mighty fine sound! Nice one Zepp!

@jcommins I feel like practice is the only way to get your right hand to become more efficient and not move so much. I look back on my old videos and my hand was all over the place. I feel like it's kind of settled

Very nice! Sounded better than Kyle Creed! You've inspired me to learn that one zepp. just found the tab in brad leftwich's book! thanks!

Mighty sweet there Zepp! That banjo has quite the ring!

Hey Zepp, I like how "quiet" your right hand is. Any suggestions for how a novice can reduce the unneeded movement in the right hand? I'm all over the place.

@jcommins Hmmm... Other than the obvious ("don't move your hand so much" which sounds kinda flip), I'm not sure what to tell you. I do play pretty much from the wrist, rather than the elbow, but there are those who argue vehemently that the only way to play is from the elbow. I find Dan Levenson's suggestion to imagine that you're knocking on a door to be a good description of how I move my hand, and recommend that to my students.
Hope that helps!

Hey Zepp, love you stuff. What's the tuning here?
jcommins 1 year ago
@jcommins
Just gDGBD (though the tune is usually played tuned or capoed to A: aEAC#E)

@jcommins Thanks! I was tuned to plain old open G (gDGBD) or something close to it (I don't always go off in search of a tuner...)
