  • @mrwhispers Go see my video on emergency economics!

  • Do you have to use mylar bags and oxygen paks? Could you not use a food vacuum sealer?

  • @Kenwood278 We tried using a sealer, and it didn't work well. the some of the dry goods poked holes in the bag

  • Thank you, and LDS, for sharing with us all.

  • @gblpst81 Actually, we are trying to HELP the world! After most world wide disasters the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is one of the first to provide aid. As are members in the effected area. In almost every instance the Church is there to help others. Most Mormons I know store food, not only for them selves but for charity as well.

  • Thank you for answer. Have heard that before.Plan to put my items in bags first.Just wondering why folks say a mylar bag with food will last 25-30 yrs and a bag sealer only 5 yrs?Any idea?Tring to find best and yet cheapest way.

  • @kmikesell There would be no difference as far as 'mess' is concerned. Birds and wildlife eat fallen fruit. And for the TWO children who throw oranges as cars, first they will be arrested. Second, MILLIONS of people and wildlife have something to eat, while TWO children are being punished.

  • @kmikesell You are right. Canned meat will last indefinately as long as the can is not bulging or dented. After about 15 years or so, it MIGHT start losing it's flavor.

  • @Jim777ism Great idea, unfortunatly not a practical one. See most of the fruit would go unused and cause a great deal of mess.....Think about children walking home from school throwing oranges from the ground at passing cars. (That's what happened when I was a child and there was an orange tree in the front yard of a house on my way home from school)
