Mechaman visits tiestall Gaast

Answerd Jorna uit het Friese Gaast bouwde niet zomaar een nieuwe stal. Jorna bouwde namelijk een gezwaaide Hollandse grupstal met 72 standen. De stal heeft een Oostra-nok, een Polyvent-gordijn en de koeien worden gevoerd met een krachtvoerrobot. Jorna melkt met zes Delaval Duovac melkstellen die ook al in de oude stal aanwezig waren.

Instead of expending capital & energy (hyman labor & petroleum) on harvesting the food & bringing it to the cows - and them to remove and spread the manure & bedding, why not let the cows 'self-harvest' the bulk of their diet AND autimatically spread their manure at the same time? Additional supplementation could be given in the barn at milking time, as needed, but the cost savings would be significant, along with reduced petro use, & the cows health, quality of life, & longevity would increase
