Who cares if he waste the cat food? Of course you have some peta idiots who will say a cat somewhere is starving while he threw away 20 cents worth of ground meat. On the other hand he's creating a tool out of the can that will be used to heat his food on his travels across the world; and all you can think about is why he wasted a lump of random meat? Shut the fuck up.

I use this stove. 1 ounce of fuel will boil 2 cups of water in about 6 minutes. It will continue to burn for 4 to 5 more minutes after that depending on the temperature and the wind. Wind has a lot of affect on a stove like this. A good wind screen really helps.

You just saved me from buying a 40 dollar camping stove. And this one looks way more better. Plus thats the food I feed my cat so this is a win win:)

A few questions. How much fuel do you use? How long of a burn time do you get? How long to boil a given amount of water (say 16oz / .5 liter)?

Overall really simple and easy design, i'm thinking of having my scout troop make them for an upcoming trip.

I tried a potted meat can and fed it to my dogs. Didn't seem to work that well so I'll try the cat food can next time. Hope my dogs like cat food!

A can of olives worked great! Marking the hole punch where it meets the top of the can helped me keep the holes level.

Great idea, seems much more lightweight than my trangia. I'm off to go feed my cat and give this a try!

Does the can get hot while you are using it for cooking? Can it burn your desk or whatever it is on?

Also, why cat food ... why not buy something that would be useful or edible, assuming you don't have a cat?

I worry when I see someone carry alcohol in a water or soda bottle. it seems one could accidentally drink from it. Nice stove and very simple.
