Quadrophenia is the sixth album by the English rock band The Who. Released on 19 October 1973, Quadrophenia is a double album, and the group's second rock opera. Its story involves social, musical, and psychological happenings from an English teenage perspective, set in London and Brighton in 1964 and 1965. The name is a variation on the incorrect popular usage of the medical diagnostic term schizophrenia as multiple personality disorder to reflect the four distinct personalities of Jimmy, the opera's protagonist—each said to represent the personality of one member of The Who. The title also referenced the Quadraphonic sound schemes then being introduced.

  • heres to the british : they say that the fact that germans or french cant do rock is due to the language but WHERE IS THE LANGUAGE IN THIS PIECE HERE???!

  • @buchananstreet

    Are you serious? LOL

  • this must be re-mastered, because i remember listening it in with headphones, and it sound a bit different, lets say, less "clean"

  • Well I don't know if it's because of how Youtube downgraded the quality of the songs I put on here or if it was the CD I ripped it off of. I got the whole album from my local library and ripped the songs. So I don't really know what happened to it.

  • god listen to that opening riff....the piano and synth then that insane moon drum work...best band.....BEST FUCKIN RECORD EVER MADE...

  • Fucking love how the synthesizers come in at 5:48. Definitely the most beautiful instrumental I've ever heard. The one-two punch of this track with "Love, Reign O'er Me" (one-two-three punch if you want to include "Doctor Jimmy" as well) remains the perfect finale to the greatest classic rock album of all time. Long live The Who, long live Quadrophenia!

  • this is spot on.... the images are how i see the song....hidden meanings ;-)

  • Beautiful

  • @buchananstreet True, but that's also why the French do Zeuhl (Magma-like music) and Black Metal, and the German do Metal, Krautrock and Electronic Music, not to mention the Italian who do Symphonic Rock.

Each language implies a different way of thinking, designing and composing. That's why each country often has its own sub-genres or excells in one particular style.

  • @mlow38 Dou you think in that minute you are saying there is some words? I hear "the past is calling" (from Dr Jimmy song)

  • @JasonBonitati maybe the ripping of the song reduced the amplitude of the frequences ?

  • @buchananstreet The musics dont need to be talked. A music is, first of all, an expression of your feelings, your life, your illusions, and etc... If you can express all of it in an instrumental piece, you're blessed...

  • @xxKYLExGxx You sir, are completely wrong, as the album is more of a one-two-three-four-five-six-seven-eight-nine-ten-eleven-twelve-thirteen-fourteen-fifteen-sixteen-seventeen punch.
