Nice short, ethereal and oddly colored experimental treatment of Henrik Ibsen's classic, directed by David Bradley at the ripe age of 21. Notable as the debut of Charlton Heston, you damned dirty ape. He's like 16 years old or something.

  • What's the name of the piece at minute 3:40 ?

  • @Pastisknowledge It's called In the Hall of the Mountain King

  • Fuck this fucking shit - I cvannot for the life of me ADVANCE the clip at all it just fucking hangs. I am in a fucking rage

  • Hmm, when that happens to me I usually refresh the page. A reload of the video is probably all that needs to happen here. I am on a browser YT doesn't even support (Firefox 2) and it loads and plays fine for me.

Anyone interested can see the full film on DVD from VCI Video. In the US you can get it from Amazon, so I trust that applies to anyone overseas too. Not that I necessarily endorse Amazon at all.

This clip was actually yoinked from a compendium of avant garde dance films.

  • this was made when chuck was a freshman at northwestern university in wilmette. the film is much longer, though (about 100 mins).

  • "Take your stinking paws off me, you..." Oops, wrong film.

And look how far he went. God's peace, Chuck.

  • Watched this for an assignment in norweigan a few years ago. Massive mindfuck to find out it was charlton Heston I was watching that whole time.

  • @Bonana65 It IS about just as damn creepy as "The Cremation of Care" isn't it?

  • when was this filmed?

2 o'clock in the morning during a power cut?

  • Thanks for posting- makes me wish to see more of it.

It seems to be a interesting piece of (very)low budget cinefantastique, its more than 70 years old and reminds me of some experimental, weird and creative posts here on YT- and its a good "hall of the mountain king" videoclip as well.

    C. Heston: I notice a certain fondness of bare-chested acting...

  • EXCELLENT... an Artist's reach should always exceed their grasp!!

  • Northwestern is in Evanston, not Wilmette.
