  • We replaced the stock tires with Nokian WRs. Have only had 1 storm so far this season, but the Rogue made it up the driveway that day without too much fuss. My parent's were visiting with their FWD, which was rocking new studded tires, and it did NOT make it up the driveway that day. So, that could possibly be a good sign that the new tires will make a difference.

  • needs better rubber

  • @NIGHTMAREuki Got us some Nokian WR's to try this winter... I'm sure they will be light years better than those stock tires, but it is yet to be seen if they will conquer that driveway

  • guessing there is ice on the bottom of that snow

  • @occckid123 There was no ice, but after a few tries the snow was starting to compact down quite a bit and make it more slick

  • In the video, it looks like the front wheel locks up, as though the VDC was kicking in. Did you try turning VDC off?

  • @cravnsn I'm not sure if I did in that video, but we did try every combination of VDC, AWD lock, and low and high gear possible. Results were always about the same, no matter what we did.

  • wow you coulda snapped your axle turning your wheels that way will wedged on the side sliding back......

  • @imstricken06 Yep

  • you dont even know what the hell you are doing

  • you do realize when you turn AWD LOCK and the wheels over-spin reaching a speed of 6mph or higher it turns off AWD LOCK, right?

  • @cravnsn The problem with modern cars is that they are way too dumbed down.

VDC ideally would be stability control only, unfortunately traction control is turned off also.

You want hardware traction control [actuating the brake on the spinning wheel of the open front/rear differentials], but you don't want software traction control [keeping slip rate under 10%] because you need to have a higher than normal slip rate in the snow to generate traction.

  • @NIGHTMAREuki Exactly.
