  • Dang Surf... You got me beat by quite a margin... No matter WHAT trigger you're using.

lol, don't get me wrong as I have been using an SSA for some time in a for fun rifle. Work rifles are USGI types. I really like the Geissele triggers, but for my own uses and what I am getting out of them, I am not going to be swapping out any more USGI triggers in my up close carbines at this price point.

I also like the 2-2-2 and use it with students because as Mr. Lamb suggests it is indeed good for teaching tempo or target to target transitions and really working the muzzle end of the rifle on targets. Make no mistake, .17 splits is smoking this drill. The split times is not where the time difference comes from. It is more time to first shot and transitional speeds that can add up.

The standard 1-5 is shot at 5 yards / meters which is where I ran this drill. I usually run in at 7 - 10 yards with farther target spacing. I sometimes run it at 25 yards also. The better you get at farther distances, up close seems very simple.

Hey I appreciate the support on the channel!

  • @ryusekai I've also gone back to a "standard mil-spec" trigger as of November 2011. Funny that when Surf starts using Geisseles, I stop using them & go to mil-spec, lol. I had the same issue as you with the SSA, I sometimes wouldn't reset the trigger & would press again.. and nothing. I currently use an LWRC trigger and shoot pretty damn well with it. Better than I ever have, actually.

I do plan on buying and trying out one of the new mil-spec triggers by Bill G's wife, they sound really good.

  • @RetreatHell are you using a G trigger or usgi? I dont write down time either, but know i have never done better than .13/.14. I would ask that??? lol

  • @ 4:15 yea too many rounds, but very fast on that 1..,

  • @ryusekai You would ask that. I never write my times down or go over them AFTER the fact, so I have no hard data. I also don't really run the 1-5 drill much anymore due to the amount of rounds needed, & it's frustrating if you have a round out or fuck up your time, because then those 15 rounds you just burned through don't even count. So I mainly do the 2x2x2 instead. I'm happy with anything under .20. Like you, I sometimes get down to lower teens, but I'd say I probably "average" .17 currently.
