I first heard about this song when I read one of those books about Elvis' recording sessions (I don't remember the title). Elvis was going to record this song (this was during his '69 Memphis sessions), but when he saw his hero, Roy Hamilton (he was set to record a couple songs for Chip Moman's AGP label), he gave it to him. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WI3gKJw7RbA&feature=related
This recording was made by the writer...
Can any onbe sell me a dub of this on CD.

All you need to do is listen to the lyrics to this song from beginning to end, and you'll realize it should have been far more of a classic than it became. Barry Mann wrote some of the greatest songs of the time.

The original by the writer, himself! This was done by The Sandpipers, Wayne Newton, and countless others!
