SeeGigFilmGigPost has a new favourite band!!! Read on...
Dry the River play The Chambers & the Valves live at the Komedia in Brighton on Tuesday 25 May 2010, supporting Johnny Flynn and the Sussex Wit.
SeeGigFilmGigPost is not normally given to the wanton use of profanity but, on this occasion, an exception must be made. These guys are fucking amazing! Johnny loves them and so should you!
I only wish that this short clip could fully do them justice, but you really had to be there. When I randomly selected this song to record, and it turned out to be pretty-damn-good, I thought, "Brilliant, I've got their best song". Little did I know that their set would just get better and better, song after song, until they closed with a blistering version of a song called Weights & Measures.
That jaw-droppingly brilliant final song of Dry the River's set was, quite simply, the most thrilling live performance of anything that I've seen by anyone this year! And if you are planning to check out my channel to see exactly what I'm comparing it to by saying that... yes, that does include Mumford and Sons performing Lover of the Light at the Brighton Corn Exchange back in March! Yeah, that good.
Update -- December 2011: Dry the River have, quite rightly, been included in the BBC Sound of 2012 longlist http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-16003723
This follows hot on the heels of the DtR's appearance in the GQ Magazine '100 Best Things In The World' list http://www.gq-magazine.co.uk/entertainment/articles/2011-12/01/100-best-thing...
And, just in case that's not enough good news for one bulletin, they have today revealed details of their forthcoming debut album, 'Shallow Bed'! Details here: http://www.drytheriver.net/2011/12/album-announcement/
