I Am Israel, I Am Palestine

It's many an artist's dream/nightmare to try to tackle really big issues in their art.

I gave an interview today with Middle East Broadcasting Networks, an Arabic Language, Federally funded, web-based tv station that broadcasts to the Middle East, North Africa and Europe: www.alhurra.com

The correspondent interviewing me really wanted me to write a song that would "be of interest to Arabic speaking people".

I've always wanted to write a song about Israel and Palestine. but when it came time for the interview, I hadn't written anything yet. It's such a huge topic. I didn't really know where to start. He was a little disappointed. He asked me if I could write something for him anyway, on the spot, "take your time", he said.

This is what I came up with. Lyrics below:

@AradSP i know that there r more than 80,000 Palestinians in israeli's jails, n there r alot of children who r less than 16 yrs old, n there r alot of women also. hw they r in good conditions while they r in jail ??!!! u said gilad in gaza from 5 yrs, wt about the prisoners who r in israeli's jails for more than 30 yrs ??!! Palestine was better before u raped it. we was livin in peace n love, but after u rape it, war started. n it's our country before 3500 B.C.

@brightrap how do u know there are children in jails in Israel? and they are there because they wanted to blow us. and we letting they're families visit them and they having good conditions there. Gilad Shalit for example, who is in Gaza for five years, last time we saw him was on video tape more than a year ago. oh and OUR country? we fought for this country over FIVE times and YOU didn't did anything with Israel for long time but once the Jews came it all have changed for good
