The roof removal (tear off) process looks effortless and is completed with the clients home in mind. Before installing shingles we do a complete roof deck inspection and replace wood as needed. Once the installation of ice and water guard along the eave line and #30 felt (tar) paper is installed, we are ready to install the shingles. The shingles are installed straight and even following the manufacture requirements. Once the shingles are installed we complete the roof with new chimney flashing and ridgevent. @ThesuperBoss2011 if you ran the metal over the paper that means the paper would run under the metal, if the water were to get under the shingle that means it would have direct contact with the wood on the eave because of the undrlap that you are suggesting and would rot the eaves out.

@rsg999 you dont need scaffolding to do a roof just ropes and harness,at my company we use ladder jacks to hold up materails on the tall steeper ones.
