Laying Tefillin at USF

Every Tuesday at the USF Tampa campus's Marshall center Rabbi Uriel and Rebbitzen Dvorki Rivkin host a gathering of students, staff, and faculty to have a kosher lunch, socialize, and learn about Judaism and Torah.

On Tefillin Tuesday the group discussed the mitzvah of Tefillin and shared some of the different customs regarding their wearing. This film shows some of the basics of this daily holy mitzvah.

Thank You for showing that all Jews can and should wear Tefillin. I like how the person putting on Tefillin is dressed such that nobody would know he was a Jew if he was wearing a baseball cap.

In many ways the prayers associated with Tefillin help us realize that Judaism is a very intellectual blief system and these prayers help us celebrate that.

I remember wearing this when I went on a tour of a Hassidic Temple in New York. It was a fun experience.
