How many of those bands do you really think can be considered "mainstream"? Many of them are considered entry-level in the metal crowd, but many others outside of the metal scene don't know about them and may not like metal anyway. It doesn't change the fact that a great deal of today's mainstream, heavily-pop-and-rap-influenced music today is downright terrible.

  • @gnubboleso

Of course, that doesn't mean people shouldn't still search for better music; just that a lot of what's played on the radio these days simply isn't very good in the eyes of many. Armageddon's music may well have been played on a mainstream rock radio station back when it was released, and they were great. By comparison, most rock bands today are terrible, but very popular for some reason and so get a lot of airtime.

I could go on, but hopefully you get what I'm saying.

  • If you guys really like stuff like this and you hate the way music has turned don't just look at the mainstream stuff of today. You certainly look at mainstream music to find Armageddon in the 70's look at the counter-culture and alternative and you will find things that are far more appealing than today's bullshit. Stop complaining start digging!

  • @SadusKreatorPriest

Right on man. I don't listen a whole lot of old-school rock anymore these days, but I know what the good stuff is when I hear it.

Same applies for metal. There's good stuff out there, but you have to do a little digging to find it.

  • If you have this album and the first two Captain Beyond albums, you have the cream of the prog rock crop. And get the Blind Faith album, too.

  • I LOVE THIS!

  • MEGA !!!

  • i have this album from back when it came out . always thought it was real good and wondered why there was never any more albums from this band . well anyways it's one of the most treasured albums in my collection .

  • Armageddon a fantastic band!! Rip Keith Relf, you are a legend!

  • @baddad59 it was the lead singer keith relf not the guitarist marrtin pugh....but yes relf was playing a guitar...in his basement....supposedly his ill health led to his death

  • @GuitarReb Yep...lol..Been playing many years and have been zapped by bad grounding several times but only twice have I came close to that final note..Once when in a basement holding my guitar neck and grabbing the handle on a casement window. My heart was in every part of my body EXcept the left side of my chest.Another tome was playing a dive and I grabbed a mic and lit the place up..Bass player kicked the mic stand away and literally saved me.All to the applause of the crowd that wanted more.

  • @baddad59 100% agree. As a lifelong musician, I've been shocked my fair share of times, but to be shocked into cardiac arrest by an improperly grounded guitar seems to me to be almost unfathomable.

  • @GuitarReb Thank You..I wasn't real sure if I remembered it correctly,I'm old and blame senility..Thanks for the information,is appreciated..

Guess the main thing is that we lost a band that had unlimited potential.

  • @baddad59 You're close, but not quite accurate. From Wiki: "(Keith) Relf was 33 when he died from electrocution, at his home, while playing his improperly grounded electric guitar. At the time, Relf was rehearsing new material for the regrouping of the original Renaissance line-up, called Illusion." Armageddon was already defunct.
