Great informative video! Also, you can be an "unhealthy" vegan if you ONLY eat vegan fatty processed foods, candy, bagles, etc. The difference is eating mostly WHOLE, healthy foods - ideally organic, locally-grown, etc. Even the 99 cents stores in CA carry a lot of organic and gluten-free products. That being said, it's still ideal for the majority of your diet to be prepared from fresh fruits, veggies, legumes and whole grains.

Sorry, Ellen! As much as I love you, I can't be a vegan! I could probably be a vegetarian but not vegan.

what about the iron deficiency? I think all of the vegan diet is good and sounds good actually but I always heard that you can't get enough iron for your body if you only eat vegetables, I might be wrong, idk

Not everyone's bodies are well suited to be vegan because every body is different than the other. I had once read an article about a vegan and she had change her lifestyle, because it was not good for her body. Because her body lacked energy and other things. And when she changed her lifestyle, and began to eat meat and everything, she could feel and see the change on her body, Her energi level became much better and her skin too.

"The best part of this is the WEIGHT LOSS." I hope Portia is referring to others that she's seen eat vegan, not herself. I have never seen her overweight.

thats what most people say till about the 4th or 5th week on a vegan diet. your body adjusts and if you eat meat after about a month you will see what it does to your energy levels and digestive system. but i totally understand where you're comming from. it's NOT by any means an easy transition. it's kind of like quiting smoking. I think there are a ton of psychological hurdles with giving up meat as well as physical. I know i thought i could never feel satiated without meat in my belly. : )
