Dunya versus Hereafter
One day a person went to meet a very important Imam who, everyone from Presidents to kings used to hold in high regard. On his way to meet this Imam he was imagining what his house must look like and car etc.. On arriving he was shocked to find the Imam was living in a very, very small flat in a poor part of the city with little or no furniture.. on seeing this the man asked the Imam I was expecting so much more.. where is all your furniture and finery?.. the Imam replied I have kept it for my new house in the Hereafter!

Alhumdaillah the Imam knew that this dunya is simply a journey, the Hereafter is where our destination is, so he put more emphasis on investing for his real future and true happiness.

1..Be MASTER of this dunya Keep the dunya in our HANDS NOT IN OUR HEARTS?

Definiton of the Arabic word DUNYA = dirty, nothing, worthless!

(Think about how Allah(swt) describes this world!!)

Most of us have keys.. be it keys to our house, our car etc we always worry where they are and rely on them to keep us feeling secure.. Do our keys control us? or do we control our keys? .. The same question can be asked about how we look at our life in this dunya do we control this dunya or do we allow it to control us?

People who live for this dunya can fall into 3 areas:

a) People who live a life of misery because they are so worried about problems; always concentrating on trying to protect their wealth or status; time is never enough to deal with all the issues and being annoyed.

b) Planning for the what ifs? in lifeSpending all their time trying to get a water proof plan to control their future.. their wealth, their homes, insuring themselves from any harm..

c) Having a lot of dreams and never being able to achieve usually unattainable goals.

This attitude leads to life of misery and anxiousness which will evade a person ever having happiness and contentment

An example given to us in the Quran

Allah(swt) asked Prophet Musa(as) What is that in your right hand?

Prophet Musa replied it was his staff (which he used for many things and was very important to him)..

Allah(swt) said throw it away.

2..DO NOT DELAY IN DOING GOOD!!

We should not delay in doing good in our lives here in the dunya. For example:

a) Delaying wearing the hijab until getting married

b) Delaying the prayer until later

c) Delaying doing Hajj when we are older

d) Delaying giving up smoking

With each delay it is a black spot on our hearts and as time goes on and we keep on delaying and delaying the black spots become more and more until the whole heart is blackened and eventually fades away.

3.. IF WE DIE TOMORROW ARE WE READY TO MEET OUR CREATOR?
