This video is part 2 of my continuing tribute to the late Carl Sagan.

Next Episode: Wanderers http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lPM-vKpiKR0

Excerpts were taken from Carl Sagan's Pale Blue Dot: A Vision of the Human Future in Space. More specifically, from the chapter titled Aberrations of Light. I edited together the audio from the audio-book, and added the video from:

- Carl Sagan's Cosmos
- Discovery's Into the Universe with Stephen Hawking
- BBC's Wonders of the Solar System with Brian Cox
- BBC's The Root of All Evil with Richard Dawkins
- BBC's Walking With Cavemen
- Robert Zemeckis' Contact (based on the novel by Carl Sagan sharing the same name)
- Tony Darnell's Hubble Deep Field in 3D.

The music is Together We Will Live Forever by Clint Mansell, which was recommended by YouTube user thewadsman (thanks!).

  • This playlist should be a requirement in every school.....

  • @freedomland11 You will. When you died your atom is recycled and help future generation species, until our sun died as well. The sun will blasted the top layers of our earth, in which your atom is rested, into space. They will travel far into space for eon. Possibly some of them will ended up on another planet to nurture more life. In some way or another, you will travel the universe. =D

  • @platoscave911 I really hope you are a troll. It would sadden me if somebody could look into our current body of knowledge and conclude (only) that we aren't special. We are, but not in the way we first made ourselves out to be.

  • TBH I don't think aliens would look at us as idiots. Children perhaps, but not idiots. Because they emerged from the same physical properties that we have emerged from. So they probably knew the same problems. If anything I think they'll smile and say ah-ah : Infancy.

  • 5,000,000,000 years from now u wuld be long dead and life wuld evolve into a rocket and fly to other planets lol sounds stupid yet life cannot be contained no matter how hard things r thrown in it's way aslong as it has time on it's side anything is possible and yet we take animals everyday of our life 4 granted asif it's nothing how sad r some people

  • lol planet of the idiots it's already is

  • Just another charasmatic scientific materialist who through elegant rhetoric and fanciful pictures captures peoples imagination into thinking they are not special the earth is not special nothing is special. Be careful of the twisted/twisting logic it only leads to confusion and through confusion comes manipulation.

  • We are nameless in the eyes of the universe, bound by the weight of a rock, thrown in the chaos of life, trapped in the knowledge of light from galaxy to galaxy. We are Earths history and forever in its debt.

  • @WaiWu if you think about it, you might of traveled the universe already too :D atoms from other planets may be within you

  • @dexluther No. A lot of atoms WILL be broken down by the destruction of the Sun, but that matter doesn't just go away - it becomes energy.

So, to reiterate, yes, parts of you WILL travel the cosmos, in some form or another.

  • Somewhat ironic theme song towards this video (The Fountain Soundtrack produced by Clint mansel. The fountain is also one of my favorite movies). Anyways, Carl Sagan is probably my most favorite person. Ever. Pity we do not have more people like him now.
