http://psd2cssonline.com - This is a step by step description of how to use a common technique to make your Joomla Template expand with your Joomla content when you build the theme with Photoshop and convert it to a working Joomla theme at psd2css Online. A lot of people have been asking for some more tutorials on this so here we are. It's exactly the same technique for Drupal and WordPress themes, but this particular example is on Joomla.

NOTICE - I just added a new feature to psd2css Online called _frame that solves this same problem (expanding themes/templates with your content) and is WAY easier to use! Check out the video response I posted to this video!

  • I've just installed Joomla and was searching for beginners tutorial video's. I shall come back to this one when I'm more familiar with it. Your video looks very good.

I was wondering how you get your screen to zoom in and move so that the cursor always moves to the the middle? Do you know if I can do this in windows? It looks great for explaining things and for hard of sight people. I'm running windows xp pro.

  • Excellent!

iShowU HD is the screen capture app. It doesn't zoom the screen though, it just takes a small part of the screen for the video. It just looks zoomed then.

  • Shaun, if you want to do this for wordpress do you need to substitute the word "wordpress" for "joomla" in the naming scheme? Also, in the last example video for this technique you changed the content_joomla_relative section css height to min-height so it would fill the page when content was sparse, is that still correct? BTW, thanks for a great service and helpful tutorials!

  • Hi - Yep - but first off - I just added a new feature that solves the same problem as this (expanding theme for Joomla, WordPress, Drupal or even HTML/CSS) and is WAY easier to use. Check out the video response I added to this video.
