"we are the nation that cast off the scourge of slavery" -- as though 400 years were some kind of national infection that we managed to get together and cure. its the sort of pat re-contextualizing someone parodying a politician might say.
I don't know if Obama's the answer, but his administration could very well be a step in the right direction, as Jindal has inadvertently shown here.
