This is what literally got me on the 1st rung of the ladder, my advice is watch it in full screen & take note of which tools he 's choosing i.e smudge tool at 1.50 & in finger painting mode. And also look at the Opacity settings etc. Keep practicing & practicing. You like me will get there.

At 3: 40 how did u darken de original sketch outline. u were working on the background layer and sketch was on layer 1. i am unable to do that

@smtandel It's been a long time so my memory is fuzzy, but from what I can tell I simply ran the burn tool over the sketch. You might need to adjust it to midtones or shadows in the "range" pulldown though.

thankyou so much! this is a great tutorial. but i wouldn't say that it's for Begininers because you don't explain which tools you use and for someone who has never used photoshop before it can get confusing!
But I've been looking for non sped-up version of a digital painting for ages! thankyou SO much for your time and effort and keep u pthe good work! 5 stars!

Thank you. I really appreciate the feedback. This is very old now and I've done more tutorials since then with more detailed commentary. I also have a written tutorial on my website that explains the tools better. Hope that will help out.

i only have one question and it's a problem for me. Since my person that I'm painting is blonde should i do a light grey or dark grey? cuz i see you shade the hair off with black cuz the person is brunettish. so what should i do?

Blonde hair is definitely more difficult. With dark hair, you can just lay down the dark base colour and add light strokes over the top, but with blonde hair you have to add light and dark strokes, which means more work.
My suggestion is to start with a midrange grey. This way you can add light and dark strokes over the top and it keeps it all in contrast.
