Education is the not the problem or issue for the federal government. Each state is responsible for the states education. Be true to your party. Be conservative and make the federal government smaller not bigger. It is not your job to tell children what or who should teach them. It is first the parents job to teach the children. No steps the DOE should be your priority. Leave this to the parents and the great state of North Carolina.

When I hear a US Senator talking about "education" and what the federal government can or should do, I am quickly reminded that there are things that they CANNOT do! My challenge to my Senator is to show me the specific grant of authority to the federal government in the US Constitution to spend one dime on or have any say on the subject of education.

Republicans used to criticize fed-gov's interferance in the business of the states. Apparently, not anymore. How about shutting down the DOE?

Kids in America arent studying as hard as kids in India or China and thats why those nations are excelling for the most part in recent times.

You share some of my values, but that is where the line is drawn.

Fairly soon, when you hit the unemployment line like the rest of us, you will realize that it is only integrity and honesty that will keep you in office.

It is your fault, and every republicans fault that we do not have a R in office right now, but should we?

We should not have a Republican at any cost. We should have a democrat, libertarian, constitution party, or hillbilly party for that matter if the Republican cannot be trusted.

You didn't mind them doing that for the failing banks and AIG, then why not for our failing children?

I think if we want to fix education, there are a few simple steps to be taken. First get the public schools out of the social engineering process. Second, allow more school choice and give parents who send their kids to private a school a tax break for the money they save the public schools. Next, get the federal government out of what belongs to the states. Also, stop pushing one size fits all standards. Finally, stop telling children they will never make it in life if they don't go to college.
