For starters let me say that I believe that yes the Bible is the word of God the blessed trinity; from out of eternity, revealed to the souls of his prophets his word to teach and correct His chosen people. One how do I know that the bible is truth? That is the faith! We who are called in Christ Jesus stand on this truth that God cannot lie! Remember, greater is he who is in me than he in the world. If the Holy Spirit is not dwelling in you, you will continue to ask how and why questions.

I agree that the Bible is valuable as a historical document. It is fairly through not totally reliable. (For example, the sun cannot have stood still in the sky so Joshua could slaughter his enemies though there may have been an element of truth in the story which got distorted as it was passed down the generations). Further the actual historical events are interpreted within the context of a culturally-specific mythological belief system, as is universally the case.

Thx. Could you tell me WHY you believe all of the Bible is inspired by God? I am not seeking an argument, only to understand.

WHY do you believe the Bible is the inspired word of God? What evidence is there for it? You can't count evidence from the Bible itself. That would be like me holding up some book in my hand...oh, I dont know, Messages from the Planet Mungo or something, and saying it's the word of true aliens on account of it saying in the book, 'this is the word of aliens'. Not that it says much in the Bible about being inspired by God. There's that bit by Paul, but that's not God himself saying it.

Do you believe that all of the Bible was inspired by God or only part of it?

I can write a story. If it is fiction, it won't take long before someone proves this. Same with "Misquoting Jesus". Has it been "peer-reviewed" so to speak like the bible has been? Has it survived 2000+ years of study and analysis? No, the ink is barely dry . You're going to need some better evidence than hearsay to go up against this juggernaut. Furthermore, Jesus left us with ONE commandment, which is kinda hard to corrupt. LOVE ONE ANOTHER. Think you can remember that one, scribes?
