BNSF 716 Leads The Empire Builder Enroute to Chicago

Due to winter weather and GE P42DC's being garbage, a BNSF C44-9W was put on the point of the Empire Builder. It just happened to be 716 which is a fakebonnet, although it looks very sharp. Anyway, #8, the Empire Builder, departs the Winona Depot at Franklin St. in Winona, MN on 12/29/09.

'Ole 716 didn't look too shabby-- those red Warbonnets always where very "photogenic" in the snow!! Great catch Matt, beautiful lighting!! Gotta love something like this!!

That second P42 engine was number 117. I have shot video of engine 117 an insane amount of times on Amtrak's Coast Starlight over the years starting in year 2002.

Nuts of a catch with the BNSF engine leading. P42 engines break down all the time so by my area you see UP engines leading the California Zephyr every so often since it is UP track and BNSF on the route of the Empire Builder since it is mostly BNSF track.
