This duck egg is on its 5th day in the incubator. A couple days early to tell for sure if it is fertile, but this one is clearly fertile.

  • I have an auto turner so I don't mark the eggs except with an ID number. Usually you can candle at about a week.

    Good luck.

  • Dammit I just killed an embryo whilst cracking an egg to make scrambled eggs to eat.

I didn't bother to check if my eggs were fertilized or not. Lesson learned

  • @rwhtv your smart for a kid

  • @purple91345 Yea

  • my doves layed eggs, (again) , but they never hatch so when it been 2/3 wks, my mom just eats them, some eggs though feel empty, those im pretty sure died out , but anyway , how do u candle an egg , do u get a flashlight and put it uder the egg?

  • i really have no idea if my eggs are fertile or not. i have 8 cockatiel eggs. :/ i wish they would be fertile.

  • mine are day 7 and i cant see embryo all i see is blood ring, red pure veins, 2 tiny black spots, and where is the location of the embryo anyways?

  • @Mcarpenter17 I think that was an 'O' marking on it. So they could keep track of turning.

Most people put x's and o's on opposite side of the eggs,

  • when can you start to candle the eggs?

  • i have a egg and am 8
