It is the power steering. Not sure for what reason but my 90 lx 5.0 does the same thing.

when they get older they do that my 01 mustang does it 87 bronco and 03taurus did it and they all ran fine nice truck btw

when turned all the way the power steering pump will be over loading....btw u have a leak in the power steering hose its under neath your air filter its a big rubber hose about a foot long, mine leaked too but just go get an after market and it wont fix the noise but it will help steering
