Metropolis is a 1927 German expressionist film in the science-fiction genre directed by Fritz Lang. Produced in Germany during a stable period of the Weimar Republic, Metropolis is set in a futuristic urban dystopia and makes use of the science fiction context to explore a political theme of the day: the social crisis between workers and owners in capitalism. Metropolis was cut substantially after its German premiere, and much footage was lost over the passage of successive decades. There have been several efforts to restore it, as well as discoveries of previously lost footage. This restored version of Metropolis from Giorgio Modorer was nominated at The 1985 Razzie Awards for Worst Original Score and Worst Original Song with Freddie Mercury. In 2008, a copy of the film 30 minutes longer than any other known surviving copy was located in Argentina. After a long period of restoration in Germany, the new and most complete version will be available in 2010.

  • @aiueoVVVeiimiiVVVsan This version doesn't have the extra footage because it wasn't available yet. Giorgio Moroder worked with the best cut he could find. This is one of the most butchered films ever.

  • Best.version is the restored 2010 one...this is the second

  • Great.. I ponder exactly where the improper sort of comments are.

  • @Alevamltd not as much as the psycho remake. Since it was the best version available until the gorgeous Kino restore, I've got an attachment to it. have this one for the music, the restore for the "real film"

  • Your vid is popular on Conakry

  • for a pain in the neck its not a bab version

  • @Alevamltd No that would be the "Psycho" remake :P

  • This has got to be cinematic blasphemy.

  • Giorgio Moroder made a pop opera with this project.

  • @MrWackypackages What about the 2001 version, it has a lot more footage than Moroder's version and original soundtrack?

  • ...and hope to never hear again...

  • aun siendo su intento de manera bizarra.
