A few weeks ago my wonderful husband took me to a resort for our anniversary. He'd talked with the owner and learned there would be live music Saturday night. He asked if the band would let me sit in on a song or two, and was put in touch with Nancy (their AWESOME bass player), and it was arranged. I knew none of this until that afternoon. So I sang a couple of songs that night, had a great time, and the band invited me back to open for them last Friday night. (I think it might qualify as my first 'gig'.)
I played a half-hour set, which is more than anything I've done (so far). This is definitely not my best performance, but I was fairly happy in the end, having managed to get through all 6 songs without any major mistakes.
The camera mic tends to equalize any sounds in the room, so there's a lot of talking and other noise. It's something to post, though.....and it's been a LONG time since I've posted anything, so up it goes.
Thanks to all of my friends here, especially Pete (classican) and Steve (Groffy), for your constant encouragement, and for helping me to believe I could do this.

  • The big question is, when is the club gonna put on the bill for a night or two... Good job.

  • @MrNormsHGW -Hm..Guess I need to learn more show biz lingo; I'm not sure what this means (the first part), but I do 'get' the second part. Thanks very much, Jeff.

  • Wow - great job on this!! I can't wait to see/hear more of the songs from your session. Thanks to hubby for setting this up, too. Hope your next gig is right here in Nashville. We'll pay close attention and won't talk in the background.

  • @dllewiszz - Hi Dave, thanks very much. If I'm asked to play in the area I can let you know. That would be GREAT. : )

  • That's an awsome cover. It's crazy how Ceelo Green sounds like the singer in Gnarls Barkley. Loop in a bass line in the back and it would be real crazy. :)

  • As most musicians go, you're worst critic is you. Everything sounded great! Talent always shines! more Lightfoot please, or Zep, Slade also has some well written songs (my youtube discovery). smokey mountain fan.
