Uganda celebrated the World Population Day amidst challenges of controlling the ever increasing numbers, especially among the young reproductive women in country.
The day was celebrated in Kayunga district under the theme, Uganda at 33 million, Time to Act.
During the celebrations at Ndeeba Primary School in Kayunga district, the leaders in the area expressed concern over the increasing number of people per household and the harsh conditions mothers go through during labor due to inadequate health facilities and personnel at most health centers. But with these challenges affecting most families in the rural villages, the Minister of State for Planning and Economic Development Matiya Kasaija says the increasing numbers is not the problem, but income for the people.
To the United Nations Population Fund this is all about managing the population on Earth to have a better World to live in and investment for the future.
The third Prime Minister, General Moses Ali, represented President Yoweri Museveni at the ceremony.
