http://www.ted.com Traditionally, the Kalandar community of India has survived by capturing sloth bear cubs and training them to "dance" through extreme cruelty. Kartick Satyanarayan has been able to put an end to this centuries-old practice, and in so doing discovered a lesson of wider significance: make the practitioners part of the solution.

  • Thank you for doing this. It is great to see some positive progress in the world.

  • this is a very good way to make changes, he did it really well, he didnt force them to just leave the bears, or get them jailed., he understood their situation, and proposed to them other means of getting income. not just by telling them, but by helping them, this, is a sincere man who not only cares about bears, but also about the ppl, who lives with them. others should learn from him.

  • Good job chaps.

  • @SNDFX69 TED promotes rational thinking so it's bound to come into conflict with pre-medieval belief systems like Islam, Christianity or Judaism. It's not selective in which one of them it takes on. A child isn't being educated if the only book they read is the Koran or the Bible. Here's another example of how people's lives are being improved by being taken out of such a situation. They're still free to read whatever holy books they like when they receive an education.

  • Two thumbs up.I wish all people should think like him,and stand up for animal abuse

    Thanks for caring.

  • @SNDFX69 Please don't bring religion into this.

  • @Unmoldedwoody lol and ;O; baby bears

  • A great cause.

  • This is why I respect people like Satyanarayan but I don't like the works of people like Timothy Tredwell. I don't want to speak ill of the dead but everything Tredwell did was selfish. He just ran around with Grizzly bears in the wild like a hippie on drugs. That does not help the bears. On the other hand, what Satyanarayan did, it was a strategic response to a serious problem with the naturally wild bear population. This man efficiently executed a brilliant plan that had a 100% positive impact

  • I understand how some people may take it the wrong way when they mention Islam or Muslims over and over, but that's not the issue, Muslim or not. I am Muslim, (alhamdulillah) it is what it is. These folks who just happen to be Muslims, did what they did with the bears, which I don't understand, because even though we have dominion over the animals on Earth, we all still have to treat Gods creations with mercy. Just remember that this has nothing to do with Islam, these things hppn n places like

  • May Allah bless this kind man kind to the innocent animals and also the poor people. Thank u sooo much for ur work can u please help the dancing bears in Pakistan too?

  • well done that's a very good news..so happy to hear this..and I can see the bears are happy too.. keep it up you guys..I salute you all....Thank you!!
