"Summer Jazz Jam and Improv Night" every Monday evening at the Maple Room in Lewiston, Maine.

Through out the summer, each Monday evening at 6:30 pm, The Maple Room presents some of the best jazz and improvisation the region has to offer. Players are arriving from Massachusetts, Bar Harbor, and Southern Maine. The Maple Room will present hot alternatives in a cool setting every Monday Night.

The groundbreaking group "Snowmonks", the core of this event, moves with plenty of surprises and variations. Bandleader/Pianist Jesse Lynch and Poet Gil Helmick are joined by percussionist Pat Barter, cellist Wayne Smith and Mark Tipton on Trumpet.

Our intention is to create a jazz landscape populated by the SNOWMONKS and as many wandering minstrels as we can seat. The SNOWMONKS poetry and jazz fusion welds the best elements of spoken word and jazz improvisation. In addition, immediately following the poetry jazz segment is a high energy finely focused jazz session that inspires and invites. To date, guests including BRAD TERRY on clarinet and John Clark and Kim Kass on Bass have stepped up to the stage.

The Maple Room is a 100 seat professional sound stage complete with a state of the art recording studio. Some of the finest musical talent to visit Maine have performed on the stage of The Maple Room. The Maple Room is one of the more subtle treasures Maine has to offer.

This "Summer Jazz Jam and Improv Night" is a unique opportunity to experience The Maple Room without requiring a ticket in advance! For these Monday night sessions, we simply pass the hat. You can come and go as you please. Simply show up and enjoy! All ages are welcome, however parental guidance is suggested. The poetry is not intended to be predictable!

Decades ago, Lewiston was a Jazz epicenter. We expect it will be once again. Join us. Sit back in air conditioned comfort or lean forward and add a little heat.
