Kyrie - Misa Criolla 1 - Jose Carreras

Jose Carreras performs "Kyrie" from "Misa Criolla" by Ariel Ramírez. The Misa, a mass for tenor, chorus and orchestra, is based on folk genres such as chacarera, carnavalito and estilo pampeano, with Andean influences and instruments. It is also one of the first masses to be celebrated in a modern language. Ramírez wrote the piece in 1963-1964.

when i was a boy, my father sang this heavenly piece in his local village amateur choir. i sit behind my computer now and humbly allow the tears to run down my cheek, om my denim pants. sublime.

This rendition of "Kyrie" in "Misa Criolla", as delivered by José Carreras in 1987, is the best one in my view. Nobody has sung it with such sensitivity, so poignantly...

maybe then you should check the version of george dalaras ... sang from the heart..not as a classical singer..but this version is really nice..but as not as good as the one by Dalaras
