"all I saw was a bunch of women dancing, no real point to it at all."

That depends. A bunch of women dancing in America or Europe isn't special. A bunch of women dancing in Bet Shemesh is. If they had done this in Tehran or Riyadh, it would be an even bigger deal. It's a small start but a start none the less. Women all over the world are anxious to see some progress in their quest to escape the shackles of second class status and they need as much support as they can get.

oh well I was reading the description and you see Bet Shemesh is an orthodox area with strict rules. So it looks like these women are saying no to those rules. But you are right too. They are dancing to queen.

I am so glad that women are taking control and telling the message that religion is personal and cannot be enforced at any level.

Because it's Israel...most people are out of work that late in the morning on Fridays to prepare for Shabbat, and Sunday is a regular work day. Study the facts before commenting offensively.

Wonderful! I don't see any mention of why this happened HERE---but if you run "Beit Shemesh" in ancient times you find that archaeology of the 1300s BCE shows a powerful woman ruler living there in a quite-advanced community, including evidence of comparatively peaceful interactions between peoples of many different cultures. Something certainly worth remembering as women around the world fight for their equality!

Good for them! I am not sure what "change" they were seeking, but it was a joyful and heartwarming few minutes.

while this isn't the place for such a debate...religion has many faults, namely of its followers, that like warring political parties believe they have the right away... still bits and pieces have their uses, philosophies and grand creative schemes -- inspiration to some, innovation to others; if only to escape its chains of absolution or its history of persecution. In truth, atheists are rather dull religious freaks have more kinks (or turn everything into a kink) and are more fun to corrupt.
