Today's Bulk and Skull episode would like to recommend to you the online collaborative storytelling collabotron at http://unblink.story9000.org/ where the featured story if "A Life Less Smoggy" with parody characters "Skulk and Bull"! Story9000 is the best online collaborative fiction brought to you by Pokey the Penguin.
"Sumo Thumb Wrestling" in itself is an allegory for how Bulk and Skull add a level of depth to the world they dwell within. Ms. Appleby: "Tommy!" Tommy: "Ms. Appleby, are you trying to seduce me?"
There are very weird scenes in which Bulk and Skull seem to appear out of people's backs. Example the scene where Bulk seems to come out of the base of Tommy's neck. How does he do that? Man, that smug little dork standing next to Ernie is one of the reasons I don't like kids. I wish there was some explanation for the green slime Skull has on his hand that seems to have been stolen from Nikelodeon.
Bulk and Skull make a very good point in stating that you don't need to practice to be good at something. The majority of people get by in the world either by connections (unethical) or innate talent (genetics). Practice does not intrinsically improve people's skills. Practice just leads to experimentation and conditioning to new methods to attain a goal more directly. Just look at Jason and Tommy; they're "karate experts" by the show's definitions. It's a pretty bold statement that practice makes perfect coming from a show where the characters are scripted to behave to the whims of the writers.
Why Bulk and Skull would want to waste time with the drugs, militarism, and betting involved in a redneck high school "sport" is beyond me. And as for the leotard and tutu, please know that "Rosey Grier" jokes are over 20 years old. Even Kimberly remarks that ballet is somehow intrinsically humorous. Doesn't look like we'll ever understand how. Is it another classic MMPR plothole that characters who are already committed to karate are also being committed to football? How many hours are in the days of YOUR fantasy world? There are two things that are hard to ignore about this episode: Narvy's shoulders and Paulie's legs. They're not that bad. People of Narvy's body type are good at that laying position where Narvy is on the desk in detention. Tall skinny people are like cats; they can just stretch out. Question for this video: What do you think of Paulie's legs? Also, who are those three kids in the background in detention? I truly admire that they seem to pay no notice to Bulk and Skull's antics.
Another day, another rock-stupid assignment from Mr./Ms. Appleby. I like how she acknowledges B&S as one person when they raise their hands. Bulk's and Skull's belief that they have nothing to change merely follows suit of the solipsist folly of modern society's faulty belief in "self-esteem". It's pretty threatening the way Tommy claims that the fact Bulk and Skull feel self-satisfied, which is healthy, will result in them failing the assignment. It'd be like saying "Yeah, well your kung-fus not gonna stop a BULLET piercing your lung, is it?"
Seeing Bulk and Skull in formal attire would make for numerous great episodes of the Bulk and Skull show. I mean, something like that could be drawn out to a whole episode, or even storyarc subplot, if you get writers who can write. Notice the Bulk and skull theme remix that plays. I thought they could've gone a little further with the music, since it's something you have to listen to actively to notice it. They should've done lots more genre-based remixes of the B&S Theme Song. God, Ms. Appleby's face when she holds the box out to B&S gives me wide-awake nightmares. I can't say I understand why B&S would give their teacher a trap present. It doesn't seem like something they'd do, to be honest.
Damn, Skull's got his chops right and Bulk sure does that singing tone well. So what provokes Kimberly to start insulting them? The fact that the MMPR are mean, rude teenagers who always get their way, even when they don't deserve it. And how dare she mock them claiming they could never be stars, especially when they already are? Once again we see Skulk's love of frog's legs. I've never tried 'em myself. I don't eat much amphibian. Tommy's the nice one apparently, as he at least shows some form of concern for B&S's wellbeing when they're pearlified/lustered.
And so this episode of Bulk and Skull concludes Season 1 of MMPR. I hope you enjoyed watching these clips, and the trip down memory lane to recall why Paulie Schrier and Jason Narvy are truly a funny, memorable, and admirable duo in comedy. The song at the end sounds a bit amusing, because it seems to also reflect the characters of Bulk and Skull. Think about it.
You know, if Bulk and Skull ever released an album......hell, I'd buy it.

I'm pretty sure they're not doing anything right now, as this is the only real production they've been in and it's not even really good. Just a violent kid's show.

I went to school with people who would totally fall for that overtheatrical melodramatic nonsense. I'm not kidding. My graduating class literally WET themselves when they saw breakdancers in the school. And they look at me like I'm the crazy one.

Good point. That's the sort of body-type prejudice that we humans have inscribed into our society. It's to such an extent I'm surprised that there are bulemics out there who feel ashamed about what they do.
