1st chorus is usually "ghost HERD in the sky" or-in the case of Honny Cash, is dropped altogether. Like the Sons of the Pioneers version, she passed over the 3rd verse-"Faces gaunt, their eyes all blurred & shirts all soaked in sweat......" ect.

Kay Starr was a majorly underrated talent. Certainly one of the most versatile voices of her time. Always enjoy hearing her voice.

Sorry, Vaughn, but this 1959 recording takes the palm in my book. Between Kay's vocal and that solid Jack Marshall arrangement, it really moves.
