@sanity599 That was the case for KDE 4.0 but not so much for KDE 4.7, I know there are roud edges but it's much better now. And about GNOME 3, it's really dumbed down and I feel stupid using it. Let's hope they fix it for next couple of releases.

@bachinchi I would like to quote Linus Travolds when he encountered KDE 4 "Oh my god what a disaster." That about sums up KDE.

@faxmanloveswaffles ubuntu has a dev version of compiz, and kubuntu's ubuntu font does that for some reason.. it annoys me

@bachinchi ive been on pclinuxos for years, with kde, and kde4 is very buggy, and had to restall all the time. gnome is beautiful, sleek and faster. pinguy has a great ubuntu, with all the codecs there, but am still having some errors. though overall its very good. im looking at suse, considering gnome, and this review is merely going into details, where things are. what i want to know, is how fast, and error free they are, and how they perform. where buttons go is a joke.
i tried kubuntu yesterday and I installed the Nvidia drivers and after reboot all the system text was small. And on Ubuntu 11.04 if I enabled Compiz my borders were missing and i got errors. I might try OpenSuse.

@faxmanloveswaffles I would always recommend openSUSE if you are wanting to use KDE.

Great comparison. In my opinion GNOME is too simple and 'ugly' (I know, this is my opinion and I know is very customizable). And its even simpler in GNOME3. KDE is just the contrary, plenty of options and (again) is 'beatiful' out of the box.

@bachinchi I couldn't agree more, Gnome was alright in Ubuntu, though the Unity interface is now better than Gnome 2 in my opinion, and Gnome 3 doesn't really appeal to me.

@MarrkDaviid is gnome 3 available on suse?

@71GA There are guides on the openSUSE website that explain how to install Gnome 3, though I don't believe that it is currently available out of the box as an iso image.
