I cried and cried when I first saw the film, I could see the love they had for each other, but let's face it, their Crazy! Anyone who could live in those conditions and think it's o.k are nuts.....period.

In the movie version with lang and barrymore...when little eddie's dad died.. he left them with a small trust to live on...but it wasn't enough to support the estate of grey gardens...it took A fortune to keep up that 23 room mansion...and the sons wanted their mother and sister to sell Grey Gardens and move to a smaller live quarters and she would have still lived very comfortable from her profits from grey gardens and on the trust her husband left her....but she refuse to sell.
