We talked to Massad Ayoob on day one of SHOT Show 2010

We asked Mas for his thoughts on carrying a second firearm for CCW / EDC

This video was posted from the hotel on a laptop without the ability to publish in HD

Massad Ayoob is an internationally known and respected firearms and self-defense instructor.
We are looking forward to attending Massad Ayoobs next course in Arizona later this year

  • @perspicacity89 I have both his books and im a big follower of him (unrelated i know) but I remember reading that he is syrian, like either his grandparents or great grand parents came over back in the early 20th century

  • @guid06a1

He has written many more than two books

  • imo, a guns is already there for an emergency... unless you are in LE, security or military or something

  • @lobzdik

Good attempt in english, however this has no real meaning, just some words.. might want to try again

  • @GunWebsites forgive my humble English as its not my first language... as Masaad talks about carrying a second gun for an emergency, i believe that the first gun is already there for that emergency. To prepare for more emergencies by merely carrying more guns may seem unnecessary... from my civilian point of view, which does not touch on LE, security and military

  • @lobzdik

OK that was much more clear, thank you.

You are entitled to your opinion. We just wanted to get Massad's perspective on this topic.

You decide to draw the line" at one gun, we decide a second is reasonable based on experience and expectations.

I feel neither of us is correct since neither of us is right or wrong, just two opinions

  • It makes sense. If you're in a gunfight, chances are you day hasn't gone too well and more things are going to go wrong.

  • @VALsacount2 You are not a soldier. Get over it. Now clean your room and brush your teeth. . . . . . Young man.

  • Ayoob is a syrian con artist. He capitalizes on the mall ninja's in America, the people that wanted to be a cop but couldnt cut it. And he does so very well.

  • @lobzdik First gun is for an emergency... second is for a supper emergency. You keep a box of band aids for a cut, you keep a reel of guaze for a supper cut. You keep five dollars in your pocket in case you hit a small speed bump, and you keep five hundred dollars in your mattress for a big bump.

  • Hey Massab nice to here you

  • carrying a 2nd hangun is good policy if you are serious about defending your life... you have more OPTIONS.

  • Very wise man...

  • I never thought about carrying a 2nd gun, but after Mr. Ayoobs advice I am really considering it.

  • @stevevandien exactly. well stated.

  • @lobzdik Clearly you weren't listening very closely. Being unable to use your primary weapon because of malfunction, having it taken away or knocked out of your in a struggle, being wounded or being in a position that makes it difficult to draw your primary weapon are all situations that occur in civilian self defense scenarios (more so, in fact, than in LE). In such situations a backup weapon can save your life.
