Vicksburg, Mississippi. I had never been here before and really liked the area. The Vicksburg National Military Park was a beautiful green peaceful place. And the history enveloped you. Seeing how the lives of so many soldiers from both sides were involved in the events that took place here made it a somber place indeed. No matter the outcome.......I respect and honor what they all went thru very much.

  • One of the best state welcome centers in the country....you get a free cold drink.

  • @gootenslog Thats something I will always remember. Some of the best welcome centers and rest stops I have come across along interstates in the USA have always been in the southeast part of the country. I remember a few years back driving thru Kentucky and Tennessee how impressed I was with some of the centers. Mississippi was no exception. I liked the free public WIFI in many places too. Really came in handy. Along with the coffee. :-)
