One of the things that I've always liked about Frank is that there was this look he would sometimes get on his face that sort of reminded me of my oldest brother.

What an education YouTube can be. I was a big Zappa fan as a teenager and recognize lots of players that have been with him, but had not idea Vinnie played drums for him. I would never have recognized him either, but when you check his style, it's clear not many drummers alive today has his repertoire. Damn, what a blast from the past. I know Dweezil is playing his dad's music nowadays, but honestly, only Frank Zappa can be Frank Zappa. Totally weird - total musical genius and visionary.

It's vinnie..the eyeglass flick is there. The sitting low is there. IT's him

This is definitely Vinnie, admittedly he does look Ralph Humphreys-ish, but you can clearly see in the video clip "Frank Zappa "Seal Call Fusion Music" w/ Vinnie Colaiuta & Tommy Mars @ Circus Krone 1978" that Frank calls him Vinnie.

OMG I feel like I've been to the most awesome concert ever!!!!
Vinnie may be the finest drummer to ever sit on a drummers stool. Just great. Love his work on the Joni Mitchell album "Dog eat Dog" - great record.

@rothcam2 That Jeff Beck DVD, Live from Ronnie Scott's just makes me shake my head in disbelief. Vinnie has the greatest touch. He is on top of every dynamic change, every tempo change, he has great improv skills, and then there's Jeff Beck. I hadn't heard much of his stuff before buying that dvd. I had to also buy it on cd. And I'm in love with Tal Wilkenfeld. What a little badass Aussie she is.
