What's up gamers and welcome back to Clevver Games. I'm Andrea Rene with the latest gaming news and today that comes from down under! Australia has long been known for its strict policy on game ratings. Numerous groups have made movements to get a mature rating established in the country, precisely to avoid headlines like this.

Starbreeze Studios' upcoming Syndicate revival has been effectively banned from sale. The Electronic Arts reboot was announced earlier this year as a revival of the classic franchise but with a "brutal sci-fi first-person shooter" twist.

The game is scheduled for release in February next year, but apparently the violence is too much of Aussies to handle. In the decision report, it stated, "The game contains violence that is high in impact and is therefore unsuitable for persons aged 18 years to play. Combatants take locational damage and can be explicitly dismembered, decapitated or bisected by the force of the gunfire. The depictions are accompanied by copious blood spray and injuries are shown realistically and with detail. Flesh and bone are often exposed while arterial sprays of blood continue to spurt from wounds at regular intervals."

Wow, when they list it out like that is sure does sound gruesome, but I think we are a species capable of understanding that it is just a game right? A number of other titles were banned from Oz earlier this year like the fantastic new Mortal Kombat and Dead or Alive on the 3DS. Let's hope Australia can get their ducks in a row next year because I wouldn't want our friends down under to miss out on any more games.
