AWWWWWWWWWW <3 they're so smart!

In the outtakes, the BC reminds me of a toddler. They always shake their heads when you ask a question

I love the outtakes! My BC, 3 year old Angel will anticipate and start doing every trick she knows if she is excited enough. The Borzois are beautiful!

The Borzoi is more intelligent than some realize because of the way they work. They were bred to work at distance from humans and are "released" instead of "commanded". As far as training goes they tend to train their human more than the human trains them. So in that sense, very intelligent. They are a graceful, loving, sweet natured pet....but if you need something guarded and defended with the ability to tear the intruder to shreds and no wandering about by themselves.....look elsewhere.

The correct term in Russia for this breed is "Borzaya Sobaka" which means "fast dog". "Sobaka" is usually dropped in conversation. Russians use descriptive terms rather than exact names for dogs. The official name of the Borzoi in Russia is "Russkaya Psovaya Borzaya". "Stepnaya Borzaya" is a Borzoi from the Steppe and a "Krimskaya Borzaya" is a Borzoi from the Crimea. Bolshaya Sobaka is a general purpose working breed based on the ancient Roman cattle dog (Rottweiler) which means "big dog".

My Russian dog is smart as well, but he's not the more famous Borzoi of the Russian aristocracy. He was the peasant dog known as the Bolshaya Sobaka, which was not a pure hunting hound but more of a guard dog of livestock from predators and a general all around dog. I see German Shepherd, Rottweiler and Black Lab in the dog ,he is very smart ,and very versatile. Besides being a good guard dog, he has taken down 4 mule deer by himself this past year. I expect few Borzoi could match that feat.

Thanks for this video. It is obvious that you love and take time with your dogs. I get my Borzoi puppy next week (After researching this breed for months.) Still not sure if I feed from the ground or on a raised feeder, after reading conflicting articles. How do you feed your Borzoi?

@DGriffin518 Congratulations on getting a Borzoi puppy! Actually I feed some of them in a feeder off of the ground and some of them with their dishes on the ground. It is just happens to be convenient for me and the area where the individual dogs are being fed at. We feed twice a day. They are not fed before or after exercise or high energy training however. I can say that I DO prefer them being fed up off of the ground, but I have had no problems with feeding them either way.

@DGriffin518 I feed them twice a day and can feed them either up high or on the ground. I do not feed before or after a high energy training session or active exercise. If a Borzoi is one that GOBBLES it's food, I would recommend a dish that is made for that kind of eating style. There are dishes made specifically for that.
