Rev. Maurice J. Moyer moved to Wilmington, Delaware, in the 1950s after attending seminary at Lincoln University. He founded the African American community's first Presbyterian Church in 1955 and served as its pastor for the next fifty years. As president of the Wilmington NAACP in the 1960s, he led struggles to desegregate public accommodations, employment, and housing in Delaware. The documentary is based on oral interview with Rev. Moyer and includes period photographs and film footage.
A production of the Hagley Museum and Library made possible by the Longwood Foundation and was partly funded by grants from the Delaware Humanities Forum, a state program of the National Endowment of the Humanties.
