working on the 3rd Bach Cello Suite now, you can hear 1 and 2 at http://bentorrey.com:2112/music/jsbenny

Thought I'd try this Bouree on my tenor fretless electric bass--but got my ass kicked on the intonation. Will definitely practice this one with the lights off and use more open strings for reference notes, great suggestions from the great Steve B@iley on B@ssplayer.tv, (debate with jeff B3rlin)

Plus forgot to repeat part 2.

  • wow i never realized rogues sounded that good for the small price

  • Alec--yeah, it's a pretty good instrument for $99! I should tell you that I had some work done on it by the best father/son guitar repair duo this side of the Mississippi: Jim and John Mouradian of Cambridge, MA.

They filed down the nut quite a bit, but other than that, the instrument is stock. In fact, I'm selling it if you want it, lolz! I just bought a Carvin 6, so easier than changing strings all the time.

  • I've always been wondering... do you need a different instrument for the tenor bass or you just need to change your strings ? thanks nice video.

  • I just always throw different strings on myself. One thing to consider might be having the nut redone if you're going to stay with tenor, but best to probably keep it. I've got this bass ($99 Rogue) back to EADG currently actually.

  • You are too kind. Thanks. Can't take ANY credit for the lights out practice idea though, totally great Steve B@ailey idea. I really enjoyed his columns when he did them. Great, great player.

  • Very nice! I've got a "Bach for Bass" book, but only worked on 1 piece. I should dig that out again, especially for my High-C 5-string fretless.

  • cool man....bach is good..

  • Wow ... incredible! You classical guys are intimidating! Great job! Good idea about turning the lights out with the fretless to perfect your playing ... playing in the dark scares me ... I know I'd hit a ton of bad notes! hahaha

  • cool man, try it you'll love it, you'll use something around .030 for a C string. Musicians friend sells them bulk.

  • Hey thanks, I'll have to experiment with that on my bass sometime

    Keep up the good work!
